Are you tired of the teething process? Do you wish your child’s little teeth would just poke out already? If so, Dr. Cody Skinner and our dental team are sorry things have been difficult for you and your child lately. Fortunately, there are things you can do to soothe your baby and get the break you deserve. We are happy to tell you all about those things!

Tip No. 1: Wash your hands and then massage your child’s gums with your clean fingers. This can help dull the discomfort.

Tip No. 2: Put a spoon, pacifier,, or teething ring in the refrigerator until it’s cool. Then, let your child chew on it. This can comfort the swollen and tender gum tissues and add pressure to the mouth where necessary.

Tip No. 3: Avoid giving your child amber teething necklaces and lidocaine. Amber teething necklaces are purported to release a substance that relieves pain. However, there is no scientific evidence to back that up. The necklaces can also be a choking hazard, so it’s best to avoid using them altogether. Lidocaine is an oral anesthetic that can be poisonous to infants and young children. It can cause problems like seizures, brain damage, and even death.
