Did you know that the American Dental Association recommends chewing sugarless gum for 20 minutes after you? Well, it’s true! Chewing sugarless gum has been proven to reduce harmful plaque in the mouth that lead to tooth decay. This is because chewing increases your saliva production. Increased levels of saliva neutralize plaque acids and wash it away. Higher saliva production also increases calcium and phosphate levels, both of which protect your tooth enamel.

To best care for your smile, the ADA advises these daily oral hygiene habits:

-Brushing your pearly whites 2x a day.
-Use a fluoride toothpaste if you are cavity prone to help remineralize tooth enamel.
-Clean plaque from between your teeth and gumline with a flossing tool works for you once a day.
-Receive professional dental cleanings and checkups every six months.
-Chew sugarless gum for 20 minutes after you eat to maximize saliva’s effects on your smile.

We recommend ADA approved products so that you can be sure that the products work. ADA products carrying the Seal of Acceptance means they have passed tests and proven they are both safe for your mouth and effective at what they claim. For sugar-free gum with the ADA seal, it means they have proven to work at least one of the following:

-Minimize plaque acids.
-Minimize cavities.
-Minimize gum disease.
-Remineralizes tooth enamel.
-Safe to use on oral tissues.
